Poulomi Bhadra is a forensic scientist turned criminologist, and currently works at the intersection of evidence, law, psychology, media studies and philosophy.
Her research demonstrates the intellectual joy of bridging disciplines and finding & creating new intersections, with a current focus on globalizing South criminology. She is currently interested in focusing on knowledge dissemination beyond academia. Her recent initiatives are directed towards converting her academic scholarship to impact-driven legislative, policy and community initiatives on the themes of SDG 5 and SDG 16. She is keen to work with grassroot gladiators and change-makers towards transformative thinking and pedagogy.

ABOUT
Poulomi Bhadra is currently an Assistant Professor at O. P. Jindal Global University (JGU), primarily working working on forensic criminology and criminal psychology. Prior to joining JGU, she has worked at the Natural History Museum, London with the London Metropolitan Police on research in forensic entomology. She has received degrees in criminology and criminal psychology from the University of Essex, UK, in forensic science from King's College London, UK and in Biotechnology from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata, India.
A self-proclaimed deliberate amateur, Bhadra likes to think of her expertise as lateral growth instead of an in-depth specialization. Her inter-disciplinary training in STEM and social sciences has helped her innovate and bring her scholarship creatively to look at 'wicked world' problems. Her current research interests focuses on the following themes: transitional justice and the role of evidence; interdisciplinary pedagogy and curriculum; decolonizing criminology; online hate speech and cyber phenomena; and the role of media in social constructionism.
Bhadra's writing and research have appeared on BBC, The Independent, The Wire, and other outlets. She is also involved with various non-governmental organizations and projects where her team conducts impact surveys on existing assistance programs, their scalability and policy relevance. She is presently a member of the South Asian Society of Victimology and Criminology, the International Society for Criminology, the European Society for Criminology and the Chartered Society of Forensic Science, UK. She was also part a European COST Action CA18228 Working group analysing the relationship between States and international criminal justices.
PUBLICATIONS
Bhadra has published widely in the areas of criminal psychology, criminal law and international justice issues. While she publishes mostly in English, some of her works have been translated to other languages such as German. She is also committed to the cause of improving science communication to the public and is working on publishing non-fiction titles to broaden the range of her readership.
