From Vision to Outcomes: Leadership Initiatives

4. Head – Programmes, BITS Law School, Mumbai

 
Academic Delivery
  • Evidence-based recommendation to move the grade scale from 8.0 to 7.0.

  • Dashboards for grade mapping, learning outcomes and feedback.

  • Introduced the On-Duty Leave, Alternative Assignment and Disability Support policies; proposed READ and Promotion policy revisions; implemented the Stanford Small Group Feedback model; wrote the Faculty Handbook and course manual guidelines.

 
Student-life & Well Being
  • Created the Student Council structure and election handbook, the Clubs & Societies framework, and the event policy.

  • Built a mental health framework with an escalation protocol, and upgraded the mentor-mentee programme with a buddy system.

 
Academic Governance 
  • Member Secretary of the Academic Review & Governance Committee and Chair of the Committee for Holistic Internal Assessments; member of 7 other committees.

  • Manages the academic budget and leads a team of programme associates, welfare associates and wardens.​

3. Assistant Director, IDEAS (Research Development, Institutional Partnerships & International Collaborations)

  • Started as one of the founding directors to the Office of Interdisciplinary Studies (IDEAS) - identifies researchers, projects, outreach, digital marketing, events, building research-capacity series.

  • Led the Solidarity Networks in Sexual Violence project with collaborators in Argentina and Indonesia, funded by Raise Global Health.

  • ​Co-Lead the Transitional Spaces, Culture and Media Studies research cluster.

2. Assistant Dean, International Collaborations, JIBS

  • Established student exchange programmes for the students of MA/M.Sc. Applied Psychology programmes at JIBS (starting 2023) - 14 partnerships established in the tenure

  • Mentored UK and Australia study-abroad internships (2021–23) - 6 students moved into a dual-degree pathway from the founding batch.

  • Participated in the University delegation meet in Japan in 2024. Co-Director to the ACUNS–UN General Workshop 2023, hosted at JIBS, and presented at the ACUNS General Meeting in Tokyo (2024).

  • Joined EU-funded research project to contribute to the EU COST Action CA18228 (Justice-360) in 2023. Result: a published dataset on international responses to crimes with the University of Edinburgh.

  • Built research relationships with partner universities - facilitated connection with the University of Portsmouth Centre for Financial Criminology. Taught in the Winter Schools and India Immersion Programmes for Australian cohorts (2022-2024); Collaborated on the Murdoch Criminology Internship (via Challenges Abroad) for three cohorts in 2021–22; Nominated by Murdoch’s IPRC for the DFAT Maitri Fellowship, both signs of a trusted partner relationship.

1. Founder & Assistant Director , Centre for Criminology & Forensic Studies (CCFS), JIBS

  • Founded the Centre under the guidance of Former Director, JIBS, Dr. Sanjeev P. Sahni. The Centre became an established unit with a public profile and academic outreach beyond national level, including a national press coverage of its 2022 conference.

  • Established a recurring flagship event - convened the International Symposium on Crime Studies, 2020–2022 in both online and offline formats.

  • Founded and chaired Conversations in Research & Access Strategies (CIRAS), 2020–2024 - a space to discuss research methodologies and working papers, open to undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students. 

  • Built a portfolio of short-term courses and workshop towards external outreach. Designed and led four summer and winter schools (2019–2022) in forensics, legal psychology and investigative psychology.

  • Built academic programmes and research output. Held the position of Programme Director of the M.A./M.Sc. Forensic & Investigative Psychology specialization, developed the founding curriculum to the programme. Co-edited the Springer volume (2021), translated into German (2023), which won Springer’s Top Downloaded Book Award in Social Sciences (2026). Peer reviewer to several prestigious journals. 

  • Delivered policy and practice work. Led the impact study on the Samvad 2.0 prison officials training (India Vision Foundation, 2024) - confidential report. Invited as special consultant by Project 39A (NLU Delhi) for discussion on the state of forensic laboratories in India (2023).

  • Mentored undergraduate researchers in independent research. Mentored 8 law school undergraduate research projects (2016–2024).

  • Co-/ Supervised post graduate research students. Supervised 7 PG dissertations (2023–24) and served on a doctoral advisory committee for one law school student, leading to a PhD awarded in 2024.
